Drs.
McDougall and Reinders are active members of both the B.C.
Association of Optometry and the Canadian
Association of Optometry. Dr. McDougall and Dr. Reinders have chaired the provincial continuing education committee for Optometrists. B.C. Optometrists must complete 40 hours of continuing education lectures every 2 years. Both doctors are also actively involved in the Third World Eyecare Society (TWECS). Our office collects used eyeglasses to distribute to patients in developing countries.

Dr.
Brad McDougall
Doctor of Optometry
Dr. Brad McDougall has practiced in downtown Vancouver since 1995. After graduating from Optometry from Pacific University (with distinction), he spent a year in specialized residency training at one of the largest medical centres in the US. He specialized in Low Vision optical systems for patients with legal blindness, and also gained experience working at an ocular surgical centre and a children's hospital. He has had therapeutic pharmaceutical certification since 1993. Dr. McDougall has published some of his research in the peer-reviewed JAOA, the leading North American Optometric journal.
Since practicing in Vancouver, Dr. McDougall has been actively involved in the BC Association of Optometry. He has chaired the Children's Vision Committee and has worked on the provincial government's Vision Advisory Committee, which advises the government on all issues related to eye health care, including children's and seniors' care, and safety guidelines. Dr. McDougall is also a member of the Quality Assurance Committee of the College of Optometrists of British Columbia.

Dr. Dawn Reinders
Doctor of Optometry
Dr. Dawn Reinders has practiced in downtown Vancouver since 1995, shortly after graduating from Optometry at Pacific University (with distinction). She received her certification in therapeutic pharmaceutical agents in 1993, and previously practiced at a medical-based Eye Centre in the US. Since practicing in Vancouver, she has acted as a consultant to the ophthalmic industry and has run several national clinical trials for new contact lens materials and designs. Dr. Reinders has chaired the Greater Vancouver Optometric Society for several years, and she has been active in developing continuing education programs for Optometrists and Optometric Assistants.
Dr. Reinders was profiled in B.C. Woman magazine about her business and customer service philosophy. She also presented a well-received session on the symptoms and treatments of computer vision syndrome at a Health Canada occupational health conference. |

Dr. Cindy Wagner
Doctor of Optometry
Dr. Cindy Wagner moved to Vancouver in January 2005. She graduated from the Optometry program at the University of Waterloo in 2002 and has her certification in therapeutic pharmaceutical agents. After graduating, she went on to specialize in contact lenses and ocular pathology at the University of California, Berkeley. Continuing on at Berkeley as a clinical instructor, she spent time in the contact lens and primary care clinics. Teaching appealed to her, and her next move was to New Zealand where she taught at the University of Auckland in the areas of primary care, contact lenses and ocular therapeutics.
Dr. Wagner has spent time working on many different ocular research projects with the University of Waterloo. She also published a research paper with IBM in 2002. In addition, Dr. Wagner has spent time volunteering with the non-profit organizations Eye Care International and Third World Eye Care Society. She participated in projects to Mexico in 2001, Vietnam in 2007 and Ethiopia in 2009. |

Anita
Certified Optometric Assistant, Eyewear Specialist
Anita is a familiar face in the clinic; she has been an Optometric Assistant in the Vancouver Block practice for more than 25 years. Anita's area of expertise lies in choosing fashionable and appropriate frames, lenses, and lens coatings for each patient. She travels to international eyewear conventions on a regular basis to gain knowledge of new technologies and trends.

Jody
Licensed Optician, Lab Technician
Jody has been an Optician for more than 25 years and has fabricated over 50,000 pairs of spectacles during this time. He has run our on-site optical lab since 2001. Jody is very skilled at filling all optical prescriptions (even the most difficult and complex lenses) with the highest degree of accuracy. His experience and knowledge ensures that our eyeglasses are made to meet patients' visual needs.

Myra
Certified Optometric Assistant, Contact Lens Technician
Myra has been an Optometric Assistant for over 10 years and is an active and certified member of both the Canadian and American Paraoptometric Associations. She is very knowledgeable about the latest in contact lens technologies. Myra is an instructor for the Canadian Association of Optometry's Optometric Assistant program, and she has done volunteer eyecare work with Remote Area Medical Volunteers and with Third World Eye Care Society.

Soraya
Optometric Assistant, Office Procedures
Soraya's sense of style and her experience in fashion education ensures that we always represent the latest trends, styles, designers, and that we carry the best quality eyeglass frames. She has worked with the Vancouver Block practice since 1998 and has been an Optometric Assistant for over 12 years.

Kyla
Certified Optometric Assistant
We are happy to welcome Kyla to our team. She studied at Mount Royal University in Alberta before moving to Vancouver. Kyla recently completed the Canadian Association of Optometry's Optometric Assistant program with high marks, and she looks forward to applying her new skills and knowledge to her work in the clinic.

Jean
Optometric Assistant
Jean is a pre-optometry student, currently studying Life Sciences at UBC. In preparation to enter Optometry school, she is working at the clinic to gain direct experience in eyecare.
